More proof that Harrison Smith is criminally underrated

Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith was voted as one of this year's NFL Top 100 players, but his positioning on the list is a bit disrespectful.

Maybe it's because he doesn't showboat on the field or he doesn't make polarizing comments off of the field, but for whatever reason, Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith still doesn't get the proper amount of respect, despite the fact that he's about to enter his 12th season in the NFL.

The latest example of disrespect towards Smith happened on Monday when the first 10 spots on this year's NFL Top 100 list were revealed and the All-Pro safety was given the No. 97 slot.

Smith's placement on this year's list isn't really where most of the disrespect lies. That happened a little bit later when it was revealed that the 93rd spot on the most recent NFL Top 100 list belongs to former Vikings linebacker Eric Kendricks, who is now a member of the Los Angles Chargers.

Anyone who watched even a second of Minnesota's defense last season wouldn't consider ranking Kendricks higher than Smith on this year's list. The Vikings' veteran safety wasn't as productive in 2022, but he still performed a lot better than Kendricks did.

Kendricks wasn't even the best linebacker on Minnesota's defense last season. His performance significantly declined in 2022, and it ultimately led to the Vikings moving on from him earlier this year.

But he deserves to be ranked higher than Smith on this year's NFL Top 100 list? It just doesn't make a ton of sense.

In addition to Kendricks and Smith, running back Dalvin Cook was the other member of Minnesota's 2022 team to appear on the most recent NFL Top 100 list, as he was given the No. 91 spot, 60 spots lower than his ranking on last year's list.
