The Minnesota Vikings have an interesting roster composition for the 2024 NFL season when it comes to their financial situation. Several huge changes have the team looking significantly different from previous years.

Huge earners like quarterback Kirk Cousins and edge rusher Danielle Hunter have moved on to other franchises while the Vikings have been working to create a young roster that can make the franchise contenders for many years to come.

That said, the top earners for the Minnesota Vikings during the 2024 season look much different from last year and some of the most expensive contracts aren't from players many fans would expect them to be from.

5 most expensive Vikings players on the team’s 2024 roster

Let's take a look at the five most expensive players on the Minnesota Vikings roster according to Spotrac. Note that these players are listed based on their cash earnings, not their salary cap hit for the season.

5. Sam Darnold, quarterback

It's a bit surprising to see Minnesota's transitional quarterback as the team's fifth-highest earner. Darnold is set to earn $10 million for his services this season while holding down the starting job and helping rookie J.J. McCarthy learn the ropes.

4. T.J. Hockenson, tight end

Hockenson may start the season on the PUP list this year but he should be a great asset for the Vikings' offense when he is ready to take the field. He is set to make $10.5 million for his services this year.

3. Brian O'Neill, offensive tackle

One of the top right tackles in the league, Brian O'Neill is one of the cornerstones of Minnesota's offensive line. He and Christian Darrisaw are fantastic bookends who provide great protection for the quarterback. O'Neill is scheduled to earn $15 million in 2024.

2. Jonathan Greenard, edge rusher

A new addition to the roster this year. Jonathan Greenard had a breakout season with the Houston Texans last year. He has big shoes to fill with the Vikings where he will attempt to replace the production of star edge rusher Danielle Hunter. Greenard is set to make $19 million this season.

1. Justin Jefferson, wide receiver

It should be absolutely no surprise that Jefferson is on top of this list. The star wide receiver recently inked a contract extension that made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league. The current face of the Minnesota Vikings is scheduled to make $38.063 million this season.
