New Vikings quarterback reacts to getting traded to Minnesota

On Thursday, veteran quarterback Josh Dobbs spoke to the local Twin Cities media for the first time since he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday.

During his NFL career, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has only been a member of two teams, including the Vikings. Well, it's been a much different journey in the league for veteran signal-caller Josh Dobbs, as after he was traded to Minnesota this past Tuesday, he has now had stints with seven different teams around the NFL.

Dobbs has been mostly a backup during his NFL career, so it's not too shocking that he's bounced around the league since he first entered the NFL in 2017 as a fourth-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Before Minnesota acquired him earlier this week, Dobbs had stops around the NFL with the Steelers (twice), Cleveland Browns (twice), Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Arizona Cardinals.

On Thursday, the Vikings' newest quarterback took a few minutes of his time to answer some questions from the local Twin Cities media.

At one point, Dobbs was asked if he was surprised by the trade to Minnesota this past Tuesday. Here's what the veteran passer had to say in response to that question.

"I was surprised, but at this point of my career and journey, you're not too surprised about anything happening. Right, like anything can go on any given day, especially when you're coming down to the trade deadline."

Dobbs also shared that he had just moved into a house in Arizona two weeks ago, and then a week ago, he finally got some furniture in his new home. Obviously, he didn't have much time to enjoy that, as he'll now be spending most of his time in Minnesota for the remainder of the 2023 season.

Dobbs only has a 1-9 record as a starter since entering the NFL in 2017, but those starts came with a Titans team that finished with a 7-10 record in 2022 and this season's Cardinals, who are currently 1-7 heading into Week 9.

One would like to think that if the Vikings need him to start at any point in the near future, he would have a better chance at success than he did during his stints with Arizona and Tennessee.
