While he's wearing a different shade of green this season, the Minnesota Vikings went up against a familiar foe in New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Sunday.
This weekend's matchup in London, England, was the 30th time Rodgers has gone up against the Vikings in his career, and his former NFC North rival certainly gave him a warm welcome back in the first quarter of Sunday's contest by intercepting one of his passes and returning it for a touchdown.
Minnesota Vikings grab their first-ever pick-six against New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers
For whatever reason, Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel has become a bit of a pick-six master since the start of last season. Van Ginkel's play on Sunday was his second pick-six of the 2024 season and his third since Week 13 of the 2023 campaign.
Minnesota is certainly happy to have the veteran linebacker on their roster after signing him in free agency earlier this year.
As for Rodgers, it's pretty incredible that it took until his 30th matchup against the Vikings to throw his first pick-six against the purple and gold.
New York's quarterback has never been one to throw a bunch of interceptions during his time in the NFL (13 is his single-season career-high), and pick-sixes have been even more of a rarity. Rodgers's toss to Van Ginkel on Sunday was just the fifth pick-six of the All-Pro signal-caller's pro career.
Shortly after throwing an interception to Van Ginkel, Rodgers threw another pass that landed in the hands of Minnesota safety Cam Bynum. That pick was significant as well since it was the first time in the New York quarterback's NFL career that he threw two interceptions in the first quarter of a game.
