Nightmare scenario No. 1

A Justin Jefferson extension isn't completed

This is the one that no Minnesota Vikings fan wants to think about. Even though the Minnesota Vikings picked up the fifth-year option on Justin Jefferson's rookie contract, the team has to hope that he doesn't play on it.

It isn't the $19.743 million that Jefferson would be owed in 2024 that is scary, it is letting the face of your franchise get so close to free agency that should be intimidating. A multi-year deal should be easy to figure out, but things can get complicated in the NFL.

If the two sides can't figure something out, that would be devastating to an organization that has been building their offense around Jefferson and the passing attack. They would need to completely shift gears offensively.

Minnesota needs to do everything they can to ensure that Justin Jefferson comes nowhere close to hitting free agency and is happy with his role on the team as well as his compensation from the Minnesota Vikings.
