Nightmare scenario No. 5

The rest of the division jumps ahead

2023 was nerve-wracking but also enjoyable for Minnesota Vikings fans. There were some incredible moments that will be part of highlight reels for many years to come as well as some crushing losses that weren't much fun.

Minnesota won the NFC North last season and should be considered a contender to possibly do it again. But what happens if the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, and Green Bay Packers each take significant steps forward while the Vikings struggle?

The Lions nearly made the playoffs last year and are already a trendy pick to win the division. Chicago needs Justin Fields to take a step forward in the passing game and has some help to be better this year. Plus, the Packers' success will hinge on how Jordan Love steps in as starting quarterback.

If the Minnesota Vikings go from first to worst in the span of the year, the future will look a lot less bright for a franchise trying to find a new identity. Not only would it be a kick in the pants for the organization, but fans would never hear the end of it from fans of the other NFC North squads.
