When looking at the current situation at quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, making the decision to trade away Kirk Cousins could make a lot of sense. However, the specifics of actually trading him make this deal very unlikely to happen.
A lot of teams are either dealing with injuries at the quarterback position or could use a starter to fill in for a few years. Since Cousins is 35 years old, he likely won't be seen as a long-term answer for any franchise.

Getting a haul of picks for a player in the final year of his contract could help the Vikings make the necessary moves to go after their potential quarterback of the future in the 2024 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, Cousins could help a contender with a need at his position.
Why this trade might not happen:
Cousins' no-trade clause is a huge hurdle. He would need to agree to be traded to whatever team was attempting to acquire his services. Also, Cousins has two void years on his contract that could make the financial impact of his trade difficult.
