Pros and Cons of the Minnesota Vikings keeping Dalvin Cook

Pro No. 2: Explosiveness

Although 2022 wasn't a particularly strong season for Dalvin Cook, he provided a spark at some important times when it looked gloomy for the Minnesota Vikings during some of their impressive comeback victories.

The blocking seemed to let Cook down at times, but he had the second most targets in his career as a receiver including a career long 64-yard catch and run for a score that helped the Vikings during their come from behind win against the Colts.

Alexander Mattison may be a hard runner, but he doesn't offer the same kind of explosiveness that Cook does. Some of the big plays Cook made during the 2022 NFL season may not be possible without a speedy, elusive back like Cook on the field.

Cook had 1,468 all-purpose yards and 10 total touchdowns. Much of that is thanks to his ability to make great cuts and showcase excellent acceleration. There is no way that kind of production wouldn't be missed.
