Pros and Cons of the Minnesota Vikings keeping Dalvin Cook

Con No. 3: The pieces are in place to move on with a committee

The Minnesota Vikings re-signing Alexander Mattison quickly raised an alert among fans. That alert got more intense when the team selected UAB standout DeWayne McBride in Round 7 of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Rosters already had Kene Nwangwu and Ty Chandler on the depth chart and neither of those players have had the opportunity to prove themselves on offense. Adding Mattison back to the mix and using a draft pick on McBride puts the Vikings in an interesting position.

Having the Minnesota Vikings bring six running backs into the 2023 NFL season would be a bit baffling. Those four with Dalvin Cook and fullback C.J. Ham seems like overkill at one position on a depth chart.

It seems as though the Vikings were already expecting to make a bold move at running back after making bold moves at linebacker and wide receiver earlier this offseason. This will be an interesting storyline to watch this offseason.
