Hendon Hooker, QB - Tennessee

We've already talked about how many people and experts were talking about the possibility of drafting an eventual replacement for Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Kirk Cousins, who will turn 35 years old this August.

One name swirling that wasn't expected to go at the top of the draft was Virgina Tech passer Hendon Hooker. Hooker was eventually picked by the Detroit Lions with the fifth pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Another quarterback who drew polarizing opinions, Hooker will have an opportunity to learn behind veteran passer Jared Goff in Detroit until he ready to possibly take over at the starting quarterback for the Lions.

The Vikings opted to wait and take BYU quarterback Jaren Hall, deciding not to trade up into Round 3 to select Hendon Hooker. Considering he landed in the NFC North, it could sting a bit if Hooker ends up being a star.
