Vikings QB option No. 6

J.J. McCarthy

2023 Team: Michigan (College)

At one time, J.J. McCarthy was considered by experts to be at the top of the second tier of quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft. Those lines have blurred significantly since the combine and now the Michigan standout seems like the ultimate wildcard.

After winning the NCAA National Championship and having a solid combine, rumors have placed McCarthy as a possibility to go in the top ten selections of the draft. That means there's a chance he may not be available when the Minnesota Vikings are on the clock at No. 11 overall.

Minnesota may have to move up in the draft to get McCarthy and may see him as a more realistic target to be their signal-caller of the future since the other top quarterback prospects might be out of reach for the Vikings.

The biggest question surrounding McCarthy is how he will respond at the NFL level when he is asked to do more things and isn't supported by an elite rushing attack. That said, there is no denying that he is no stranger to winning football games.
