6th-best Vikings head coach since 2000:

Leslie Frazier (2010 - 2013)

  • Record: 21-32-1
  • Playoff Appearances: 1
  • Playoff Record: 0-1
  • Division Titles: 0

Leslie Frazier got his first shot to be an NFL head coach when the Vikings named him their interim head coach in 2010 after firing Brad Childress midway through the season.

Frazier was able to lead an underachieving Minnesota team to a respectable 3-3 finish in their final six games of the 2010 campaign, so the franchise decided to remove the interim title and keep him as their head coach for the 2011 season.

Frazier's first year as Minnesota's full-time head coach went, well, it went terribly. The Vikings only won three games, and the most memorable moment of the season was when star running back Adrian Peterson suffered a torn ACL on Christmas Eve.

Thanks mostly to Peterson, Minnesota's second year with Frazier leading the way was much better. The defense made significant improvements, and an MVP performance by Peterson resulted in the Vikings winning 10 games and earning a spot in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, Minnesota was knocked out in the first round of the 2012 playoffs, but the team still felt like it was on the right track.

Well, whatever that feeling was, it quickly vanished in 2013, as the Vikings returned to the bottom of the NFL with a disappointing 5-10-1 record. With Minnesota finishing with five wins or less in two of his three seasons as the head coach, the franchise felt it was best to move on from Frazier after the 2013 campaign.
