Listen, if Kevin O'Connell continues to lead the Vikings to double-digit win totals like he did in 2022, then he will find himself much higher on this list in the near future.
But for now, the jury's still out on O'Connell.
Yes, Minnesota won 13 games in his very first season as the team's head coach. However, the Vikings were immediately bounced from the playoffs in a game that was played inside their home stadium.
Success in the NFL, and in pretty much every team sport, is determined by how well your team performs in the postseason. If Minnesota continues to have success in the regular season and quick letdowns in the playoffs with O'Connell as their head coach, then he's probably not going to be viewed around the league as one of the top head coaches.
The upcoming season will be an interesting one for the Vikings and their second-year head coach. Minnesota moved on from a lot of notable names this offseason as O'Connell appears to be building a roster that better fits the vision he has for the future of the franchise.
Will the Vikings perform well enough in 2023 to win the NFC North title in back-to-back seasons, or will the team experience a lot more struggles than they did during their first year with O'Connell leading the way?
