Quarterback No. 6

Brad Johnson (1992 - 1998, 2005 - 2006)

In 1992, the Vikings drafted a total of 11 players and none of them went on to last as long in the NFL as their selection in the ninth round, former Florida State quarterback Brad Johnson.

As a ninth-round pick, Johnson unsurprisingly didn't appear in a regular-season game for Minnesota until 1994, and then he didn't even get the chance to start until his fifth season with the franchise in 1996.

But during that 1996 campaign, Johnson did well enough to convince the Vikings to move on from Warren Moon as their starter in 1997 and make the former Florida State quarterback their new starting signal-caller.

In the 1997 season, Johnson helped Minnesota get off to a hot start, as they won eight of their first 10 games. Due to injury, the veteran passer only appeared in three more games for the Vikings that year, but even with his season cut short, he still did enough to help the team earn their second straight trip to the playoffs.

Injuries limited Johnson's time on the field with Minnesota again during their magical 1998 season, but even when he became healthy enough to play, Randall Cunningham had already taken full control of the starting job.

After stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington, Johnson returned to the Vikings in the 2005 season and took over as the starter midway through the year after Daunte Culpepper suffered a serious knee injury.

Even at the age of 37, Johnson led Minnesota to wins in seven of his nine starts in 2005, and the team fell just short of making the playoffs, something that seemed impossible when the Vikings had a 2-5 record when he stepped in as the team's starter.

Johnson stuck around for another season in Minnesota in 2006, but things went downhill quickly for the veteran quarterback. He only threw for 2,750 yards and nine touchdowns in 14 starts in 2006 and that turned out to be his final season in a Vikings uniform.
