Vikings potential trade target No. 5

Brian Burns, LB - Carolina Panthers

To this point, it has been fun talking about players that wouldn't cost a lot to acquire or might be able to develop into quality contributors. Carolina Panthers edge rusher Brian Burns is already a star and would be costly to trade for.

Despite that, the Minnesota Vikings are likely to be without both Danielle Hunter and Marcus Davenport after this season and the winless Panthers might be looking to be sellers before the trade deadline.

Burns is playing on his fifth-year option in Carolina and will become a free agent after this year. He will command a gigantic contract if he is allowed to test the waters of free agency since he has 42 sacks since 2019.

While the Minnesota Vikings need to focus on an extension for Justin Jefferson, making sure the team has a strong pass rush also needs to be a priority. Unless they feel D.J. Wonnum or Pat Jones II could be starters next year, the team needs to keep their options open.
