Redrafting the Vikings rookie class after the 2023 regular season
By Nik Edlund
Third-Round Pick (102nd Overall)
Original Pick: Mekhi Blackmon - CB (USC)
Re-Draft Pick: Blackmon
The Vikings are two for two so far in this redraft. They stayed pat with their first pick, and they do the same with their second one.
Mekhi Blackmon had a very good year for Minnesota. He was a highly-graded corner by PFF and was even named to their All-Rookie Team.
He didn't have a ton of huge plays, but he was solid in coverage and always willing to come up and make a stick.
Blackmon's numbers could've been even better, but he was injured late in the season and missed some time.
The Vikings traded down multiple times, passing on some good players until they finally took Blackmon at the end of the third round.
To gain that much draft capital and still get a player of Blackmon's caliber was a shrewd move.
Minnesota's defense doesn't have a ton of pieces to build around. They are an aging group and need young talent that they'll know will be here for years.
Blackmon certainly looks like someone they can rely on and plan to start in 2024 and beyond.
