The Minnesota Vikings have been active this offseason in acquiring talent to help them for the 2024 NFL season, and one player who could have been an interesting fit for the team is former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back L'Jarius Sneed.

Sneed ended up going to the Tennessee Titans and signing a massive contract extension. Although he could have given the Vikings cornerbacks group a major boost, Tennessee gave up a third-round draft pick and swapped seventh-round picks with the Chiefs to acquire his services.

Despite what could have been an extremely high cost to bring Sneed to Minnesota, it is rumored that Minnesota had an offer in mind to attempt to put the two-time Super Bowl champion in a purple and gold jersey.

What was the Minnesota Vikings' rumored offer?

A third-round pick and a swap of seventh-round selections doesn't sound like a lot for a player like L'Jarius Sneed, but a recent post on X (formerly Twitter) by Pete Sweeney outlined an offer that Minnesota had in mind for the star defender.

According to the post, the Vikings considered sending a 2024 fourth-round selection and 2025 third-round pick to K.C. for Sneed but ultimately ended up withdrawing their offer due to long-term health concerns.

At the moment, Minnesota looks to have Byron Murphy Jr. and either Shaq Griffin or Akayleb Evans slotted to be the starters at outside cornerback. The Vikings have a solid amount of young talent they are hoping to develop at the position and will benefit from having experienced defenders taking on opponents' top wide receivers.

Although it didn't happen, it's interesting to think that the Minnesota Vikings could have been close to having L'Jarius Sneed on their roster for the 2024 NFL season. Hopefully, not landing the star defender won't come back to haunt the team in the future.
