Following his release from the Minnesota Vikings, veteran running back Dalvin Cook is apparently looking to cash in with whatever team he signs with.

It's been less than a week since the Minnesota Vikings made the difficult decision to release their longtime running back, Dalvin Cook.

Since that move happened, there have been multiple rumors floating around regarding how much Cook is looking to make from his next contract in the NFL.

One report from earlier this week declared that the former Vikings running back is hoping to land a deal that will pay him at least $6 million for next season according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. However, the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson recently stated that Cook is actually looking to make much more than $6 million in 2023.

This past weekend, Jackson reported that the former Minnesota running back would like to sign a contract with a new team this offseason that will pay him close to the $10.4 million he was due to earn from the Vikings for the 2023 campaign.

Excuse me? Cook really believes there's a team currently out there that is willing to pay him eight figures for next season? It's great that he believes in himself, but dude, read the room.

NFL teams don't want to pay running backs a significant amount of money anymore. With the way the game is played today, investing a large amount of money into a running back just isn't worth what it was five or 10 years ago.

Still, Cook and his camp believe the running back has enough left in the tank to land at least one more lucrative contract from an NFL team. Will they prove to be right, or will the four-time Pro Bowler be forced to settle for less if he wants to play in 2023?
