When the Minnesota Vikings selected Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, it was hard to know what to expect from him. Much of the talk in that draft class surrounded other pass-catchers like Amari Cooper, Kevin White, and DeVante Parker while Diggs went under the radar.
It didn't take long for Diggs to show his potential with the Vikings. He racked up 720 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 13 games played with seven starts. He kept his hot streak going, improving with each passing season.
The former track and field sprinter played five seasons in Minnesota before being traded to the Buffalo Bills. After four seasons with Josh Allen, Diggs was traded again, this time landing with the Houston Texans in a recent transaction.
Several former Minnesota Vikings players join Stefon Diggs in Houston
There will be some familiar faces from the Vikings on the Houston Texans roster for Stefon Diggs. The 30-year-old recevier will reunite with a few individuals he teamed with during his five years in a purple and gold jersey.
Perhaps the most notable is quarterback Case Keenum. Also a teammate of Diggs' in Buffalo, Keenum and Diggs are well known for a walk-off touchdown against the Saints in the playoffs in January 2018 dubbed "The Minneapolis Miracle" by Minnesota commentator Paul Allen.
Four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Danielle Hunter will also be in the locker room with Diggs during the upcoming season. Hunter is an exciting and dynamic pass rusher who should help a young Texans team return to the postseason.
Former Vikings defensive back Kris Boyd is another former teammate in Houston this year. Boyd was a seventh-round pick of Minnesota in 2018 and played 58 games for the purple and gold before spending one year in Arizona and landing in Houston.
The Houston Texans should be an exciting team to watch during the 2024 NFL season. Not only are there former Minnesota Vikings players to watch on the team but they have a ton of talented young players like C.J. Stroud, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Will Anderson J. and several others.
It will be interesting to see how Stefon Diggs fits in with the Houston Texans and if he can develop a great connection with last year's Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud. Will they return to the playoffs in a highly-competitive AFC? Only time will tell.
