Vikings roster takeaway No. 5

Who will return punts?

From the initial 53-man roster announcement, it looked like wide receiver Jalen Reagor might return as the team's primary punt return specialist since no other player was impressive during the preseason games.

With the news of Reagor's release to make room for Myles Gaskin on the roster, this job is now completely up in the air again with no real ideal candidate to take over the duties for the upcoming season.

The Minnesota Vikings need to at least find someone who can consistently and safely field punts. Gone are the days of Marcus Sherels doing the job so well that fans didn't have to worry about this phase of the game.

Coaches still have time to figure out who will handle punt returns this year, but it's a bit concerning that a muffed punt catch can be a major factor in determining the outcome of a game and the team is going into the season with a question mark in that spot.
