Minnesota Vikings takeaway No. 6

The division belongs to Detroit this year.

This loss for the Minnesota Vikings removed any chance of winning the NFC North. It was a bit of a longshot even if they didn't win against the Lions on Sunday, but it would have been nice to keep hope alive.

Detroit is the winner of the NFC North for the first time in their franchise history. The last time they won their division, it was the NFC Central and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were part of the divisional alignment.

Thirty years have passed since the Lions won their division. Their last one came in 1993 when they had Rodney Peete at quarterback and Barry Sanders running the ball. It hasn't been easy for Detroit fans in recent history.

Normally, I would be happy for them, but mocking the SKOL chant after Nick Mullens' final interception left a bitter taste in my mouth, making the loss feel even worse. At least I was enjoying some lasagna with my family to take some of the sting away.
