Updated Vikings injury report for Week 1 vs. the Giants
By Adam Carlson
The wait is almost over for fans of the Minnesota Vikings. After what feels like an eternity, the purple and gold are set to take on the New York Giants in a Week 1 showdown that should be competitive and interesting.
Of course, the Vikings and Giants would love to have every available player for this game, but even though it is early in the season, there is a chance that some players might not suit up for the upcoming game.
Updated Vikings injury report for Week 1 vs. the Giants
Recently, the Minnesota Vikings updated their X account to include the injury report for Thursday's practice to go with the information from the team website from Wednesday. There were a few interesting things to note from the report.
Minnesota Vikings Thursday Week 1 injury report
Only two players were listed on the injury report for the Vikings, but they are two "skill position" players" who could make a difference in Minnesota's offense.
Player | injury | Wed. Status | Thu. Status |
---|---|---|---|
WR Jordan Addison | ankle | Limited | Limited |
WR Jalen Nailor | ankle | Limited | Limited |
There is no change in the status for either Jordan Addison or Jalen Nailor despite both dealing with an ankle injury. However, Addison spoke on Thursday and reassured everyone that he would be available for action in Week 1.
Both Addison and Nailer were warming up at practice stretching with the team, which is an encouraging sign that these two young pass-catchers could be ready to go when Week 1 rolls around on Sunday.
New York Giants Thursday Week 1 injury report
The injury report for the New York Giants is a little longer and includes two offensive and two defensive players. Each of them were limited in practice with no change to their status from the previous day.
Player | injury | Wed. Status | Thu. Status |
---|---|---|---|
S Dane Belton | back | Limited | Limited |
QB Drew Lock | abdomen | Limited | Limited |
LB Micah McFadden | groin | Limited | Limited |
WR G. Olszewski | groin | Limited | Limited |
The big name on this list for the Giants is linebacker Micah McFadden, who has worked himself into an important role as a defender and special teams player. With him and the other three players on New York's injury listed as limited in practice, they will be individuals to keep an eye on as Sunday's game inches closer.
Hopefully the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants can have their roster be as close to full strength as possible for the Week 1 matchup. This game on Sunday should be a competitive fight to the finish and could have a huge impact on momentum for the start of the 2024 NFL season.
