There are still plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the playoff chances of the Minnesota Vikings this season.

Sunday Night Football in Week 11 was not kind to the Minnesota Vikings. The team made multiple mistakes that led to them coming up short against the Denver Broncos under the bright lights in Colorado.

The loss to Denver moved the Vikings to a 6-5 record. With six games remaining on the regular season schedule for Minnesota, each game will begin to feel more important as the regular-season finale inches closer.

Despite the loss, the Minnesota Vikings are still in a pretty decent spot when it comes to a playoff berth this year. However, hopes of a division crown have dimmed a little.

Where do the Minnesota Vikings stand after Week 11?

NFC Playoff Picture

At the moment, the Minnesota Vikings still sit in the seventh and final playoff spot. It takes six wins to be part of the Wild Card playoff picture in the NFC. Here are the current standings for the conference over the first 11 weeks.

1. Philadelphia Eagles 8-1
2. Detroit Lions 8-2
3. San Francisco 49ers 7-3
4. New Orleans Saints 5-5
5. Dallas Cowboys 7-3
6. Seattle Seahawks 6-4
7. Minnesota Vikings 6-5
-----------------------------
8. Green Bay Packers 4-6
9. Los Angeles Rams 4-6
10. Atlanta Falcons 4-6
11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4-6

The Eagles play on Monday Night Football and the Vikings have their bye in Week 13. Minnesota controls their destiny when it comes to a playoff berth this year but will need to play well to keep their advantage.

The NFC North picture

Things aren't as hopeful in the NFC North. While it is still possible for the Minnesota Vikings to win the division, this loss means that even if the team wins out, they will need a Detroit loss to overtake them since Detroit has had their bye week already.

Here are the current division standings:

1. Detroit Lions 8-2
2. Minnesota Vikings 6-5
3. Green Bay Packers 4-6
4. Chicago Bears 3-8

manual

Minnesota Vikings fans will need to hope for help if they want a chance at the division crown. However, playoff hopes are still very much alive for a team that started the season ice cold and are dealing with significant injuries.
