5 veteran NFL QBs who could replace Kirk Cousins in 2024
By Adam Carlson
Quarterback No. 1
Ryan Tannehill
Moving on from Kirk Cousins does not necessarily mean finding an upgrade at the position. Although Ryan Tannehill wouldn't be a flashy option, he would provide stability until the team finds a young quarterback to secure the future.
Tannehill is actually a little older than Cousins but could be a bit of a cheaper option if the team is attempting to make long-term deals with guys like Justin Jefferson or T.J. Hockenson. That cap relief could come in handy.
Although Tannehill is an efficient passer, he isn't as likely to match the production Cousins would have. He hasn't thrown for over 4,000 yards in a season in seven years, a feat Cousins accomplished in seven of his last eight seasons as a pro.
While this might feel like another safe signing, there is a chance the Minnesota Vikings might not be able to land their target in the draft and panic to look for a capable quarterback to fill in. Tannehill might be the man for that job.
