Quarterback No. 3

Baker Mayfield

Only making $4 million in 2023, Baker Mayfield has the opporrtunity this season to prove that he's still a starting-quality quarterback in today's NFL. He is already going on his fourth team since entering the league in 2018.

Mayfield looked solid in 2018 and 2020 but hasn't offered the consistency at the position to make him a reliable starter. However, he has flashed greatness, like he did for the Rams against the Broncos in Week 17 of last season.

Rolling the dice on a young quarterback who has struggled to succeed in the past is a risky venture, but it is made a bit easier when the financial investment accompanying the gamble isn't a significant one.

Of course, this all becomes a moot point if Mayfield has a lights-out season in Tampa Bay this season, but filling the shoes of future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady is a lofty expectation. In Minnesota, those expectations might not be as high.
