Seventh-Round Pick (227th Overall)
Johnny Dixon - CB (Penn State)
When it is late in the draft, it is time to take a gamble on some athletic players who have the potential to find a role in the NFL. Penn State cornerback Johnny Dixon has a lot going for him, but he lacks the production of a more polished prospect.
In 32 games at the college level, Dixon only registered three interceptions but was able to find a way to earn 10 sacks in his last 25 games. He is a player who could be used in multiple ways, like Josh Metellus, with the right development.
Johnny Dixon has the size and frame to handle a physical role, which would be great for Minnesota's defense. Even if he has to start on special teams, seeing what he has to offer while investing so little could be a real benefit.
Of course, all these picks could change depending on how the Minnesota Vikings approach free agency. However, it is hard to look past an athletic player who could do multiple things when his number is called.
