The Minnesota Vikings are already making adjustments to their 53-man roster, adding a former Dolphins running back.

it has been less than 24 hours since the Minnesota Vikings trimmed their roster to 53 players but they are already making some adjustments to the team to prepare for the start of the 2023 NFL season.

According to ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter on X (formerly Twitter), the Minnesota Vikings will be signing former Miami Dolphins running back Myles Gaskin and adding him to the team's active roster.

Here is Schefter announcing the upcoming transaction:

What does this mean for the Minnesota Vikings?

Behind starter Alexander Mattison, there wasn't a lot of experience to be found. Myles Gaskin may only be 26 years old, but he brings 38 games played and 17 starts to what could be a committee approach in Minnesota.

Gaskin was a seventh-round draft pick of the Dolphins in 2019 who has averaged 3.8 yards per carry in his career. He is also a solid pass-catcher, completing 101 of his 128 targets for 701 yards and six scores since joining the league.

Some fans and experts expected the Vikings to keep recently-drafted running back DeWayne McBride on the 53-man roster, but he was part of the team's cuts to get to 53 players. Instead, Minnesota will add Gaskin to their team.

Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores is familiar with Gaskin since they were both previously with the Miami Dolphins. Although this may not do much for offensive coordinator Wes Phillips, it's nice to have some ties with a new addition to the team.

Congratulations to Myles Gaskin on joining the Minnesota Vikings. He should be able to carve out a role on the team thanks to his previous experience with the Miami Dolphins. There is no word yet as to who will be released to make room for him on the roster.
