Vikings joint practice with Titans 2023: Top takeaways from Day 1
By Adam Carlson

Vikings takeaway No. 4
A rookie stepping up
The Minnesota Vikings had a huge overhaul in their cornerbacks' room this offseason. The team parted ways with their experienced starters and looked to free agency and the draft to replenish the talent pool.
One player the team invested in was second-round draft pick Mekhi Blackmon. StrictlyFootball's Leighton Glodek shared that Blackmon was working with the first team. and Will Ragatz of Sports Illustrated's Inside the Vikings shared that Josh Metellus is working as the starting nickel defender.
It's nice to see players stepping up and fighting for roles in the defense. Since there are so many roles up for grabs, seeing individuals working hard to earn bigger opportunities should put a smile on every fan's face.

- Vikings did not come anywhere close to matching the intensity of the Titans. It seems like the Titans took this practice very seriously.
- Brian Flores brought the heat a lot, leading to Derrick Henry not doing…
Even if Blackmon and Metellus don't end up as part of the starting unit, getting them experience in those roles should pay dividends for the team as they attempt to figure out the 53-man roster and the depth chart for the upcoming season.
