It doesn't feel like a long time ago that the Minnesota Vikings controlled their destiny when it came to winning the NFC North but now the team is on the outside of the playoff picture and need to and need help if they are to be part of the playoffs.
Misfortune has forced the Vikings to rely on deep reserves on the depth chart. Injuries have been terrible and questionable decisions have made Minnesota's playoff chances dwindle despite some good performances on the field.
Vikings get bad news about T.J. Hockenson.
The Minnesota Vikings invested heavily in former Detroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson but the star pass catcher took a scary hit on Christmas Eve and now will miss at least the final two games of the season.
The injury to T.J. Hockenson is an extensive one. The star tight end will not play again this season but the severity of the injury raises questions about whether or not he will be ready for action next season.
Of course, the Vikings have Josh Oliver and Johnny Mundt to take the reps Hockenson is unable to play. There is a chance that tight end Nick Muse could see a little bigger role at tight end following the injury.
Hockenson's injury will be an ailment to keep an eye on as he works to return to playing form. Minnesota has Plus, the Vikings have a ton of questions regarding the depth chart that need to be addressed when the season is over.
