The biggest news coming out of Week 8 of the NFL season was the devastating injury suffered by Minnesota Vikings quarterback, Kirk Cousins. Reports indicate he has torn his Achilles, which will put him out for the rest of the season.
The Vikings got off to a rough start to their season, but they've gone 4-1 in their last five games and now currently sit in the final wild card spot in the NFC. Their odds to make the playoffs were set at a long price when they were 1-4, but those odds have gotten better and better over the past three weeks.
Unfortunately, with the news of Cousins' injury, their odds to make the playoffs are back to where they were when they were 1-4, despite currently sitting a playoff spot.

As of right now, Jaren Hall will take over the starting quarterback role. The rookie out of BYU was selected in the fifth round with the 164th overall pick in this year's NFL Draft. He completed 3-of-4 passes for 23 yards in relief of Cousins this past Sunday.
In Week 9, Hall and the Vikings will face the Falcons.
There is also the potential the Vikings will shop for a quarterback before the October 31st trade deadline. They also have the option of a signing a free agent. Adam Patrick breaks down seven options for the Vikings at the quarterback position moving forward.
