Oddsmakers are buying into the Minnesota Vikings.
Minnesota cycled through quarterbacks last season amidst injuries and ineffective play despite a talented set of pass catchers and an elite defense. The team addressed the need at quarterback by trading up one pick to No. 10 and selecting Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
McCarthy will join a ready-made system for him under head coach Kevin O'Connell who has put together a sound system that features star wide receiver Justin Jefferson and an emerging defense that thrived under Brian Flores last season and also acquired an elite pass rusher in Dallas Turner in the first round.
There's talent in Minnesota, but the odds are still long on the team making a serious playoff push in 2024 as the team is in a suddenly loaded division that features two playoff teams from last season in the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers as well as the No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams and the Bears.
The Vikings are trending upwards with some new blood at quarterback, but still have a long way to go to be looked at as a contender in the NFC, but the team will have plenty of opportunity to prove it in the most competitive division in the conference next season.
