Vikings takeaway No. 4

Danielle Hunter is getting ready to get to work.

The Minnesota Vikings recently reached a deal with edge rusher Danielle Hunter to keep him with the team for the 2023 NFL season. However, he hasn't been thrust directly into team drills at training camp quite yet.

Beat writer Will Ragatz of FanNation on the Sports Illustrated website shared that Hunter warmed up with the team but then worked individual drills while the rest of the team went about with the team drills.

Ragatz notes that Hunter stated after practice that the individual drills were part of a "two-week plan to ramp him back up to full speed" to prepare for the preseason and it could be wise for the purple and gold to protect their investment this way.

Minnesota will need Hunter to play well this season to ensure that the pass rush helps out a young group of cornerbacks. Easing him into action while observing the other edge rushers makes a lot of sense.
