Vikings vs. Panthers best NFL prop bets for Week 4

The Minnesota Vikings are desperate at 0-3 and they'll need to lean on their offense to get them out of this rut against a bad Carolina defense.

Last week was Kirk Cousins’ chance to save the Minnesota Vikings’ season, but he and the team just didn’t come through. Now, Minnesota is 0-3, along with four other teams at the bottom of the NFL. One of those teams is the Carolina Panthers.

The Vikings will reunite with an old friend, Adam Thielen, and maybe have a breakout game for their new starting running back. Let’s get into the prop bets for this NFC matchup of winless squads.

When you’re betting this Week 4 matchup, you can do it with this promo from PointsBet and get up to $1,000 in second chance bets if your bet loses.

Best NFL Prop Bets for Vikings vs. Panthers

  • Alexander Mattison OVER 50.5 rushing yards
  • TJ Hockenson anytime TD
  • Adam Thielen OVER 4.5 receptions

Alexander Mattison OVER 50.5 rushing yards

The Vikings haven’t been able to run the ball this year. They are 31st in rushing offense and Mattison is averaging 51.7 yards per game. With how disappointing it has been, Mattison would still cash this bet with his average.

Yet, I expect him to crush his average numbers in this game because of Carolina’s defense. The Panthers not only rank 27th in rushing defense, but they’re allowing 4.5 yards per rush. Mattison hasn’t been nearly as good as Dalvin Cook since taking over the role, but he might do a better impression this week.

TJ Hockenson anytime TD

No tight end in the NFL has more red zone catches than Hockenson, and only one has more targets inside the 20-yard line. Hockenson has caught four of his seven red zone targets from Kirk Cousins and converted two of those into touchdowns. He’s been very reliable and productive in that area of the field where things condense and get a lot harder for Justin Jefferson.

Adam Thielen OVER 4.5 receptions

There are not a lot of weapons on this Carolina roster, for whichever quarterback is going to play, Andy Dalton or Bryce Young. However, Thielen has been a reliable one. He has seen a team-high 25 targets and has hauled in 20 of those. This will be a big revenge game for him against his former team and it’s always a good idea to back a good player when he has some extra motivation.
