The Minnesota Vikings kick off their 2024 NFL season on Sunday afternoon in New Jersey. This game should be a great test for a new-look team after making some major changes to the roster this offseason.

Minnesota's opponent in Week 1 is the New York Giants. The last time these two teams faced off, the G-Men bounced the Vikings from the Wild Card round of the playoffs in front of a stunned crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Weather forecast vs. Giants: Vikings should like game conditions

Sunday's game is a road game for the Minnesota Vikings that will be played in the open air of MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The good news for the purple and gold is that weather shouldn't be a major factor in Week 1.

According to NFLWeather, the conditions for this game are excellent. The temperature is expected to range between 70 and 72 degrees with clear skies and wind gusts of up to 15 miles per hour but a 8 mile per hour breeze.

Visibility is excellent with a 10-mile expectation, which is commonly used in forecasting to mean there is "unlimited" visibility. Precipitation probability is at zero percent for the game with five to six percent cloud cover and a dew point of around 45 degrees. These conditions are close to ideal for an outdoor game this far north in September.

The weather is ready to do its part to make this matchup between the Vikings and Giants as pleasant as possible. It will be up to Minnesota to do their job on the field and get the job done against a powerful New York pass rush that could be a major issue for the purple and told on Sunday.

Fans attending the game in person may want to consider bringing a light jacket or hoodie to the game, but will likely be comfortable for the entire duration of the game among the 82,500 fans that would be in attendance if the game is at capacity.

Don't miss a moment of the action when the Minnesota Vikings take on the New York Giants in Week 1. This game is a huge opportunity for the purple and gold to get a hot start to the 2024 NFL season. They will need that type of hot start considering how challenging the remainder of their schedule is this year.
