Ty Chandler - RB

We've now seen why Ty Chandler is sitting behind Alexander Mattison despite his burst and excitement as a ball carrier. Chandler is simply not good enough in pass protection and it hurt the Vikings in Denver.

Josh Dobbs was running for his life whenever the Broncos brought pressure because Ty Chandler was his last line of support and he often failed to keep the pocket clean. On the interception in the fourth quarter, Dobbs was forced into a bad throw by a poor blitz pickup from Chandler and the Vikings turned the ball over deep in their own territory.

Now, Ty Chandler still made plenty of great plays in this game and should be utilized in the run game but there is a reason why Alexander Mattison is getting the bulk of the reps at this point. Mattison looked good for the most part on Sunday so I would not expect this dynamic to change much in the coming weeks.

If Ty Chandler is going to eventually overtake Mattison as the primary back, he is going to have to make more of an impact without the ball in his hands. For as explosive as he is as a runner, Chandler has some work to do.
