The Minnesota Vikings are a team that works hard to have a competitive roster every season. That means a player might not stick around too long as changes are made quite regularly to the team's personnel.
Massive changes were made to the defensive secondary this offseason. Safety Camryn Bynum signed with the Indianapolis Colts while Stephon Gilmore and Fabian Moreau are still unsigned free agents.
The Vikings did bring in some new players this offseason. Isaiah Rodgers of the Eagles and Jeff Okudah of the Houston Texans will play their first seasons in Minnesota, and several other young defensive backs will battle it out in training camp and the preseason.
Any hope of Shaquill Griffin returning to the Minnesota Vikings was crushed when he signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
Although Shaquill Griffin has bounced around the league a bit since he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2017, 2019 Pro Bowl cornerback Shaquill Griffin was a significant contributor for the Minnesota Vikings in 2025.
He played in all 17 regular-season games for Minnesota last season, starting three contests. He had 41 combined tackles, six pass defenses, and two interceptions in those games while playing half the team's defensive snaps (572) and three special teams snaps.
On Wednesday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler shared on X that Shaquill Griffin has been signed by the Seahawks on a one-year deal worth $3 million that can be worth up to $4 million if certain bonuses are achieved.
Veteran corner Shaq Griffin is signing a one-year, $3M deal with Seattle worth up to $4M, per source. Sides have been talking through offseason, now reach deal. https://t.co/M0Fj4mojHG

A return to Seattle for Griffin makes sense. He made the Pro Bowl as a defender there, and they likely know quite a bit about him from his previous time with the Seahawks. Plus, they got a player who can fill in when needed at a relatively low cost.
For fans who thought this signing may have happened already, it seemed like a deal that went down months ago but was never official. However, the two sides had a great meeting and had been communicating during the offseason about the terms of the deal, but finally agreed on terms.
Griffen is a solid defender who will bring his experience to a team in Seattle that could be a veteran on the field. The 29-year-old cornerback fills that role well for the Seahawks as he joins former Minnesota Vikings teammate Sam Darnold in shifting his talents to the NFC West for the 2025 NFL season.
