The Minnesota Vikings don't currently have a full-time general manager for the football team. When Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was relieved of his duties this offseason, the franchise decided to put Rob Brzezinski until after the 2026 NFL Draft.
With Brzezinski in place until at least April, the Vikings' front office has time to research candidates to be the next general manager or evaluate the job their interim GM does and decide if he will stay in that role.
Could Rob Brzezinski be the next general manager of the Minnesota Vikings?
The idea of Rob Brzezinski being the next general manager isn't a bad one, but giving him a test run with the 2026 NFL Draft is interesting.
However, the man who was previously the executive vice president of football operations and salary cap manager for the purple and gold was recently asked about the possibility of staying on as the GM after the draft.
ESPN's Kevin Seifert shared his response on X:
"I am just focused right now on the next two months or whatever's ahead of us into the draft. It's an awesome responsibility.
I've been here a long time. I know what this franchise means to our fans and just want to be a small part of one day delivering that championship.
And so whatever steps we can take in the next couple of months, we're going to do that to make that happen. And that's what I'm focused on right now."
This is the type of answer you'd expect from someone who has been around the business in the NFL for over 30 years.
Not only did he not dismiss the idea of being the next Minnesota general manager, but he also made sure to include himself when talking about the future of the franchise and wanting the team to be successful.
This offseason will be a huge test for Brzezinski. Not only does he have some major work to do on the roster, but he has some significant work to do with the salary cap and needs to inject some young contributors into the locker room to fill needs and prepare for the future.
It is a bit too early to know how Brzezinski will fare in his role as interim general manager, but he should definitely not be ruled out as a potential candidate for the next full-time GM of the Vikings.
If he performs well through the 2026 NFL Draft, the Wilf family may be compelled to keep him in that role on a long-term basis.
