Until he officially becomes a free agent in March, the NFL offseason is going to be full of predictions about where current Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold will land.

One of the most stunning Darnold predictions of the offseason so far was made on Friday by FOX Sports' radio host Colin Cowherd.

In the final hour of Friday's "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" episode, Cowherd predicted that Darnold will end up with the Indianapolis Colts this year. That's right, he believes the team that just used a top-five draft pick on quarterback Anthony Richardson in 2023 is going to be the franchise that signs Darnold this offseason.

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold signing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2025 would be insane

While the first two seasons of Richardson's career with the Colts haven't been as successful as some might have hoped when he was drafted, it would be crazy if the team gave up on him after only two years.

Richardson is still only 22-years-old and he has plenty of potential that hasn't been utilized yet. Indianapolis would be taking a huge risk if they moved on from him before the 2025 season.

As for Darnold, the Colts might actually be one of the few places where he could succeed in the NFL outside of Minnesota. Like the Vikings, Indianapolis plays its home games indoors, their head coach calls the offense's plays, and they have a solid group of offensive skill players.

Currently, OverTheCap.com is projecting the Colts to have a little more than $28.5 million in cap space when free agency begins in March. Indianapolis would probably be able to afford Darnold, but they might not be able to give him as much money as another team with more projected 2025 cap space like the Las Vegas Raiders or Pittsburgh Steelers could.

If Darnold is looking for a good fit, the Colts wouldn't be a bad landing spot. But if he's mainly looking to make as much money as possible this offseason, then Indianapolis probably isn't where he will end up.
