Window shopping is a lot of fun. Even if it isn't realistic, looking at really nice stuff and dreaming of having it can help the offseason go by. For the Minnesota Vikings, free agency is a great opportunity to dream about great players joining the team.
Signing the right players to great deals can help take a team to the next level For the purpose of this article, free agents that would be a dream to be re-signed will not be included. That means players like Camryn Bynum and Aaron Jones will not appear on the list.
However, the Vikings have some major needs that must be addressed this offseason. Other spots on the roster could use a serious upgrade in free agency before the team takes the field for the 2025 NFL season.
Here are six unrestricted free agents that would be a dream for the Vikings to sign this offseason.
Trey Smith and 5 dream free-agent targets for the Vikings in 2025
1, Trey Smith, G - Kansas City Chiefs
Play on the interior of the offensive line has left a lot to be desired. 2024 saw Ed Engram moved to the bench in favor of pending free agent Dalton Risner while starting left guard Blake Brandel struggled in his new role.
Chiefs guard Trey Smith will likely get a nice payday in free agency, but the 25-year-old right guard would be an immediate starter for the Vikings and be a huge asset in protecting J.J. McCarthy or whoever is Minnesota's quarterback in 2025.
2. D.J. Reed, CB - New York Jets
Minnesota's cornerback room is emptying out this offseason and the Vikings will need multiple players to fill the holes. Jets cornerback D.J. Reed is 28 years old and has stated that he's seeking a "stable organization" in free agency.
3. Drew Dalman, C - Atlanta Falcons
Finding a center that won't get pushed around by bigger, stronger defenders is a must. Garrett Bradbury is doing his best, but sometimes he just can't stack up against the monsters in front of him. For that reason, 26-year-old Drew Dalman would be a fantastic signing to anchor for the middle of the line.
4. Javon Holland, S - Miami Dolphins
Both starting safeties from last season could be leaving Minnesota this offseason. Signing 24-year-old Javon Holland would be a great acquisition to help the Vikings' defense from falling apart this offseason.
5. Tee Higgins, WR - Cincinatti Bengals
While we're dreaming, wouldn't it be great to add a third wide receiver that could strike fear into opposing defenses? We're seen what Tee Higgins can do with Ja'Marr Chase on the field with him, imagine what he could do with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison taking attention away from him.
6. Charvarius Ward, CB - San Francisco 49ers
Minnesota's defensive backs room will look different in 2025. With so many corners moving on, the Vikings will likely need to splurge to get at one one top defender to fill the gap. Charvarius Ward could be that defender if the dream scenarios play out right.
