Updated Vikings injury report for Week 7 includes positive Aaron Jones news
By Adam Patrick
On Wednesday, the first Minnesota Vikings injury report of the week was certainly a bit more on the pessimistic side of the spectrum since it revealed that a total of five players sat out the team's practice, including veteran running back Aaron Jones.
For Thursday, however, the Vikings latest injury report for the team's Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions definitely featured much more positivity, especially with Jones.
Updated Minnesota Vikings injury report for Week 7 vs. the Detroit Lions full of optimism
In addition to Jones returning to the field, Vikings defensive lineman Harrison Phillips and edge rusher Patrick Jones II took part in the team's practice on Thursday after both sat out Wednesday's session with shoulder injuries.
Unfortunately, Minnesota linebacker Blake Cashman did not participate in practice for the second straight day, and the report about him sitting out Sunday's game against the Lions now seems much closer to becoming a reality.
With Jones practicing on Thursday, even as a limited participant, the chances of him playing this weekend against Detroit are definitely much higher than they were 24 hours ago. Expect the Vikings to remain cautious with the veteran running back, but there is at least a glimmer of hope that he will be able to suit up on Sunday.
Over on the other sideline, Lions starting cornerback Carlton Davis III missed his second straight practice on Thursday as he deals with a quad injury. Davis currently has the highest PFF defensive grade among Detroit corners this season, so his absence would definitely have an impact on their ability to stop Minnesota receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Both the Vikings and Lions have their share of notable injuries, so we'll have to see which team is able to take advantage of their opponent's ailments and emerge with a victory on Sunday.
