By Adam Carlson
Today's game between the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions will be one of the most important contests played this week. The purple and gold need to win in order to stay undefeated and remain on top of the NFC North.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions are coming off a Week 6 game where they humiliated the Dallas Cowboys and looked like a powerhouse team hitting on all cylinders coming into this huge divisional matchup.
Who are the announcers and referees for Lions vs. Vikings today?
In order to really enjoy the game on Sunday, knowing what to expect from the broadcast is important. That includes knowing who the announcing team will be and which officials will be calling the game on the field.
Vikings vs. Lions announcers
FOX will broadcast the game between the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions in the early window. Sadly, the network will not have one of their more well-known units handling the game but the team should do a good job.
Let's take a look at who will be calling the game according to Awful Announcing.
Play-by-play: Adam Amin
Color analyst: Greg Olsen
Sideline reporter: Pam Oliver
Adam Amin is a former ESPN employee who does play-by-play work for the Chicago Bulls in the NBA and also covers MLB games for Fox Sports as well as some Olympic events. He called his first NFL game in 2020.
Former Bears, Panthers, and Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen joined FOX Sports as a broadcaster following his retirement from playing in 2021. His color commentary can be a bit polarizing, but his experience as a player typically allows some interesting analysis.
Although Amin and Olsen are relatively newer to NFL broadcasts, sideline reporter Pam Oliver is one of the most well-known and recognizable at her craft. She joined FOX Sports in 2005 where she reported with John Madden and Pat Summerall. She also covered the NBA and was a television sports anchor.
Vikings vs. Lions referees
The officiating crew could impact the game's outcome between the Vikings and Lions. According to NFL Zebras, Clay Martin's unit will be handling this big NFC North game. Here is his team that will be on the field on Sunday.
R Clay Martin
U Fred Bryan
DJ Danny Short
LJ Kent Payne
FJ 118 David Meslow
SJ 88 Brad Freeman
BJ 119 Greg Wilson
RO Brian Matoren
RA Bryant Thompson
Clay Martin started as an Umpire in 2015 and was promoted to head official in 2018 when Terry McAulay and Gene Steratore retired. He is perhaps best known for a flub when talking about a play between the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans in Week 5 this season when he accidentally said "basketball" instead of "football" on a potential fumble.
