The Minnesota Vikings have one more game to prove that this season hasn't been a complete disaster as they look to take down their NFC North rival, the Green Bay Packers, in Week 18 action.
With their record at 8-8 and winners of the last four games, the Vikings are riding some high momentum, while the Packers have fallen apart and will be down to their backups with the seventh seed in the NFC playoffs locked up for them. NFL.com senior staff editor Brooke Cersosimo shared her bold prediction for Week 18: the Vikings getting another five-plus-turnover game against those banged-up Packers.
"The Vikings' defense pummeled Jared Goff and the Lions on Christmas Day, forcing six turnovers. Brian Flores' unit continues that momentum against the Packers by recording five-plus takeaways in a game for the third time this season. And here's one more prediction, for good measure: Safety Harrison Smith records his third interception of the season in what could be his final NFL game."
Minnesota Vikings fans won't complain about getting an easy win over the Green Bay Packers if they want it
Really, the Vikings could use a win to close out the season to build some momentum going into next year. It has been a rough season plagued by injuries early on, which set them back by losing key players like J.J. McCarthy, Aaron Jones, and most of the offensive line, among others.
The last month has been a completely different story for the Vikings, as they have seen the defense play at its best and McCarthy make significant strides as the starting quarterback. Minnesota is currently on a four-game winning streak and is just one win away from having a winning record.
Postseason dreams were already dashed weeks ago, but that hasn't stopped the Vikings from playing hard. Their Christmas Day win over the Detroit Lions was terrific to see, as the defense created six turnovers and the Vikings picked up a 23-10 win despite Max Brosmer throwing for under 60 yards.
Another defensive performance like that with another Smith turnover would at least give Vikings fans something to smile about after a disappointing season for them.
