Mike Goldberg and Brendon Ayanbadejo debuted as a Fox football announcing team on Sunday’s Vikings-Lions game and to say there were a few hiccups…that would be putting it kindly.

Truth is, the broadcast was a trainwreck. From Ayanbadejo identifying Mike Zimmer as “Don Zimmer” to Goldberg identifying Greg Jennings as Golden Tate to Goldberg seeing a phantom deflection on a Teddy Bridgewater pump fake…
The only thing to do after such a brutal effort is own up to it, promise to get better and move on. Or you could fight with fans on Twitter?
Goldberg took the second approach. One fan he called a douche, another he called an a–hole (well I’ve done that one myself so no biggie), a third he responded to with a good old “f–k you.”
Probably not what Goldberg’s Fox bosses are looking for. Must be that UFC scrappiness coming out.
Goldberg needs to realize that none of this is going to help him. He was clearly out of his element Sunday and there’s nothing to really be said. There’s no excuse for him being so inept.
And by the way, it wasn’t just Goldberg, his partner was just as bad.
I don’t even blame the announcers all that much. The real villain here is Fox for foisting these people on us.
Fox, spend some money and hire some real announcers, okay? You make gazillions on football. You should be able to find some people who can call the games without making asses of themselves.
