Vikings Sign Dominique Williams to Practice Squad, Lose Pierre Warren

With Adrian Peterson facing suspension for the remainder of the season, the Vikings made a move Tuesday to bolster their running back depth, bringing back Dominique Williams.

A UDFA out of Wagner, Williams was with the Vikings in training camp this year and got 32 carries in the preseason before being cut.

Williams wound up on the Arizona practice squad but was cut after week 2 with an injury settlement.

The Vikings’ 53-man roster currently features running backs Matt Asiata, Jerick McKinnon and Joe Banyard, with Peterson still officially on the Exempt/Commissioner Can Co Whatever He Wants list.

The practice squad slot for Williams was opened up when the Vikings lost safety Pierre Warren, who was plucked away by the Saints.

Warren was signed by the Saints as a UDFA this year and made their practice squad coming out of camp, but was cut in mid-September, at which point the Vikings picked him up.

The Saints also recently signed former Viking Jamarca Sanford as they struggle to find healthy bodies at that position.

Maybe they should try out this guy. He’s good at getting interceptions at least. Has to clean up those flying elbows though.
