Minnesota Vikings vs Packers: 5 Questions With Lombardi Ave

On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers are scheduled to take on the Minnesota Vikings in their week 12 NFL contest.  Because of this, The Viking Age got together with the folks over at Lombardi Ave to discuss the upcoming game.

I sat down with Josh McPeak this week and discussed how we became fans of the teams we love, talk about the Packers game coming up, and predict an outcome of the game.  Here are the five questions that I’ve asked him about the Vikings next opponents:

How did you become a Packers fan?

"I have been a fan of the Packers ever since I can remember. I’m not really sure what appealed to me as a kid. Don Majkowski was the quarterback for Virginia before going to Green Bay so that was probably one of the reasons, being a native Virginian. Brett Favre followed so there was no turning back. It’s been an awesome ride. I can remember watching Super Bowl 31 as an 11 year-old-kid with my Uncle who was a Patriots fan. We had a pack of peanut m&m’s riding on the game."

Is there any reason at all for the Packers to fear the Vikings in this game?

"Green Bay should be on high alert for this game on Sunday. This is the perfect scenario for a ‘trap’ game as I’m sure many will be calling the Packers next game against the Patriots a Super Bowl preview. Minnesota is probably angry as they have recently learned that Adrian Peterson will not rejoin them this season. It would drastically change the vibe for the Vikings fan base if they could play spoiler and pull the upset."

What are a few things Vikings fans should know about Clay Matthews moving around in the Packers defense?

"His first two games at inside linebacker have been pretty remarkable. A combined 16 of his 34 tackles along with 2 of his 4.5 sacks on the season, have come in those two games. I have not been the biggest ‘Claymaker’ fan in the world prior to the last two games. He has me fully back on the bandwagon as you have to respect a guy with a motor that never quits. The main problem with Clay has been his ability to stay on the field. News has surfaced today that he has a groin injury. Hopefully, it turns out to be nothing."

Is the Packers recent success finally letting their fans R-E-L-A-X a bit?

"From my standpoint, I am 110% R-E-L-A-X-E-D but as a whole fan-base it doesn’t appear that way. Turn on the TV or pull up social media and it is filled with topics about the Packers peaking too early or how can Rodgers keep this pace up for a whole season. I don’t expect them to put up 50+ every game and for Rodgers to never throw another interception. This is however a really good football team that continues to get better in every aspect of the game approaching the stretch."

What’s your guess for an outcome and score of the game?

"Green Bay has a lot riding on this game. I believe New England will beat Detroit on Sunday, so this game could possibly land the Packers in sole possession of first place. Aaron Rodgers is the best player in the NFL right now. If you mix in Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Eddie Lacy, this is a hard team for anyone to handle. Teddy Bridgewater will have a rough debut against the Pack, as he faces off against Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers.  I made a bold prediction last week that the Packers wouldn’t lose again until the 2015 regular season. I will stick by that.  Packers 38 Vikings 13"

Big thanks go out to Josh McPeak at Lombardi Avenue for sharing his insights with us.  The Vikings and Packers game can be seen Sunday at noon on Fox.  Check your local listings for availability.
