It was only fitting that a wild game should end on a wild play.

Hard to imagine a more exciting finish to a game than Jarius Wright’s 87-yard TD on a screen pass from Teddy Bridgewater.

With the Vikings facing 3rd down deep in their own territory, Norv Turner dialed up what would turn out to be the perfect play.

Wright’s TD spelled relief for several Viking players who left potential game-sealing big plays on the field throughout the second half.

Everson Griffen was particularly grateful after both dropping an interception and missing what would have been a huge sack on Geno Smith.

Antone Exum Jr. was also grateful after failing to fall on a muffed punt by the Jets.

But no one was more grateful than Blair Walsh who missed a pair of field goals in the second half, one a supposedly easy 39-yarder, the other a more difficult 56-yarder that he badly shanked.

The Jets showed plenty of spunk throughout the second half and were able to fight back despite their own red zone ineptitude and tie it at 24.

The Vikings’ offense struggled a bit in the second half and were unable to put any touchdowns on the board after scoring two in the first half.

But, one play from Teddy Bridgewater to Jarius Wright wiped away all that went wrong for the Vikes in the second half.

For the second time this year, the Vikes win an overtime game on a huge play. Jarius Wright joins Anthony Barr on the list of Vikings overtime heroes.

And the Vikings crawl back to within one game of .500 with three to play.
