Lestar “Big Play” Jean won’t be making any big plays for the Vikings. Per the NFL transactions wire, the team has waived the former Texans wide-out with the injured designation. They now have five days to reach an injury settlement with Jean or place him on injured reserve.

There is no information at this time about the exact nature of Jean’s injury, whether it happened during an OTA session or what. The 6-3 receiver was signed to a one-year, $635,000 deal in April and was thought to have a decent shot at winning a roster spot. In three years with Houston, Jean caught 10 balls for 186 yards and a TD.
This is the second time this offseason the Vikings have been forced to use the waived-injured designation. Offensive lineman Josh Samuda was hurt during an early practice session and was ultimately placed on IR.
Nothing against Josh Samuda and Lestar Jean, but if you’re going to lose players during offseason workouts, you want them to be marginal ones like Lestar Jean and Josh Samuda, not important ones like Sean Lee.
Incidentally, the Vikings are now one player under the 90-man roster limit, meaning another move could be imminent. Big signing coming? Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
