Teddy Bridgewater Clarifies Comments About Cleveland Browns
By Dan Zinski
There’s a good chance you had already forgotten about Teddy Bridgewater’s comments about not wanting to end up on the Cleveland Browns. But the media didn’t forget, and on Tuesday the Vikings quarterback was forced to clarify his remarks.

Just to refresh your memory, about a week after the draft Bridgewater appeared on the Dan Patrick Show and talked about the draft process and where he wanted to end up. He said to Patrick that he didn’t want to play for Cleveland, but wanted to play for Minnesota.
"I actually told my agent [that Cleveland was] not the place where I wanted to be. Throughout this entire process I felt comfortable with the Minnesota Vikings. Every visit that I had with the team, you know, there was a family environment and the players, great guys. A great group of guys. So I felt comfortable wanting to play here."
This was taken by some as a shot at Cleveland. But Bridgewater never meant it as a shot, and when asked about it at the Rookie Symposium Play 60 Event, he gave clarification.
Bridgewater said (via the Cleveland Plain Dealer):
"I think it was misinterpreted. What I was saying was I had a strong feeling about the Minnesota Vikings. I was able to meet with them five or six times in the pre-draft visits. I just had a pretty solid feeling about the Minnesota Vikings, but, you know, I try to put the pre-draft stuff behind and try to just focus on my career with the Minnesota Vikings."
Bridgewater was then asked if he thought the Browns’ draft plans might have been altered by his not wanting to play for them. “I don’t think [they knew],” Bridgewater replied. “It’s in the past, now. We’re out here at the Play 60 for the kids and try having a good time and teaching the kids the fundamentals of football so I’m focused on that.”
Teddy Bridgewater is already an expert at deflecting dumb questions.
Here’s another one: He was asked about Mike Pettine saying Johnny Manziel is the only QB in this year’s draft class who is ready to play right away. Teddy replied:
"I have no take on that because Johnny is in Cleveland and I wish Johnny nothing but the best. My career has started now in Minnesota and I’m focused on just being the best Viking I can be."
Okay, so I guess the media got to the bottom of that one. Teddy Bridgewater didn’t mean to diss Cleveland, he doesn’t know if Cleveland wanted to draft him or not, and he has no take on Johnny Manziel.
Thanks media. You are awesome at grilling guys over stuff that no one cares about. Bunch of nitwits.
