It didn’t take long for the first worrisome injury situation to arise regarding one of the Vikings’ key offensive players. On just the second day of camp and the first day of practice, receiver Cordarrelle Patterson was forced to sit out with a foot injury.

The Vikings are calling Patterson day-to-day at this time. Various writers reported seeing Patterson limping earlier in the week and Patterson himself reported that the foot prevented him from participating in Thursday’s conditioning test.
Indications from the Vikings are that the foot is not a serious situation, but you can forgive the fans if this does not exactly reassure them. Patterson is one of the most exciting players on the Vikings and one of the most important as they head into the new Mike Zimmer-Norv Turner-Eventually Teddy Bridgewater era. So fans are going to be extra-sensitive about anything health-related when it comes to Patterson.
Fans are going to worry anyway, but they’re really going to worry when it’s one of their favorites, a guy they are counting on to help lead the team out of the darkness. Plus, you know, a lot of them play fantasy football and they want Patterson to be healthy.
