The argument has been made that Teddy Bridgewater should sit this week against the Packers so as not to risk further messing up his already gimpy ankle.

This totally sensible suggestion has been met with scorn and derision by fans who are not interested in hearing reason but only wish to have more Bridgewater-related sunshine pumped up their arses.
These fans will not like the latest report circulating in the media that indicates Bridgewater will indeed be on the bench when the Vikings and Packers kick off Thursday night from Lambeau Field.
Adam Schefter says “signs are pointing” to Bridgewater not playing. Meaning instead of Bridgewater, fans will be treated to another dose of Christian Ponder vs. the Packers and Aaron Rodgers.
These signs could be wrong of course, but even if you allow for the possibility of gamesmanship and smoke screening, you have to admit it doesn’t look good for Teddy and hasn’t looked good ever since he was rolled away from the TCF turf on that cart.
Teddy may be fine in a long-term sense, but in the short-term his ankle is obviously not 100%, otherwise he would have practiced more than one day this week.
Given the less-than-100% status of Bridgewater’s ankle, and the 100% importance of Bridgewater to the future of the Vikings, and the reality of the short week…taking all these factors into consideration, the only sane move is to let Bridgewater sit.
Oh my goodness, fans want to see Teddy? Fans will gripe if they have to see Ponder? Think Rick Spielman cares?
Trust me, he doesn’t care.
